Baker Tilly Corporate Finance – Transaction overview 2021

In 2021, Baker Tilly Corporate Finance has been involved in 164 transactions from our offices in the Netherlands and Belgium, with a total transaction value of € 205 million. Our advisors have been involved in 44 M&A transactions, 83 valuations and 23 due diligence investigations and 14 financing. 

The year 2021 is strongly linked to the pandemic. However, the M&A market has not been affected. This  is reflected in the increase in the number of transactions  compared to last year - in 2021 not less than 29 additional transactions have been carried out.

This fulfils the objective of being a reliable partner in the upper segment of the SME market.

In the past year, we have had the opportunity to carry out a variety of assignments, in which we acted as sparring partner for a diverse portfolio of clients. The main sectors in which we acted as advisors during the year were business services, industry and building products & services. Also, in many other sectors, our advisors possess  an extensive market knowledge. In the business services sector, for example, it was a year of great movement in the landscape of digital agencies.

The pandemic did not prevent the M&A market from operating outside its national borders. About 40% of the transactions were cross-border.. Through the Baker Tilly international network, we have knowledge of local markets so that cross-border transactions, can be guided in the best possible way. A good example is the fact that Baker Tilly's Corporate Finance teams in the Netherlands and Belgium have worked closely together on various cross-border transactions

In 2021, our Corporate Finance team has assisted its clients several times in employee participation processes. These are multifaceted processes that involve sales support, a valuation, tax structuring and financing issues.  In addition, 2021 also proved to be a year in which private equity was increasingly being served by Baker Tilly with a total of 11 projects.
